There seems to come a time in most relationships where one or both partners want to try something new. Business relationships arent particular immune to this phenomenon; marketing companies decided to drop clients as they decide that they dont want to deal with certain kinds of clients, and your company may decide to go in an entirely new direction, and your current search engine marketing company cant go with you. Just make sure that you occasionally ask for, and receive backups, of what the company has done for you, and you will be well prepared for when this happens.

3) Death Of A Partner
The vast majority of businesses do not survive. That is a sad, sad fact. Unfortunately, when the search engine marketing company that you needed to do your marketing is no longer in business, it can be severely disable your business. As above, just make sure that you get the occasional back-up of all files related to your business, and you can pass those files to your next company.

4) Lack of Performance
Rarely, a search engine marketing company will start out doing what you want them to, and then stop doing it as well, either do to personal problems, personnel changes, or other issues. At that stage, you need to discuss the problem with the person, and find out if the problem is just temporary. Based on that, decide if looking for another company is in your future.
