Kickstart Your Music Career

Unfair music monopoly

Because of the monopoly that exists in the Music Industry at the moment, new artists are, quite frankly, given a raw deal. Just think of the millions of talented singers, instrumentalists and bands out there who may never "make it" because they're not given a fair go. Every day, recording companies are receiving hundreds of demo CDs from would-be stars. It's a fact that many of them are thrown into the trash can without ever being heard! This is simply unfair to the talent who not only put their heart and soul into their music, but also their hard-earned cash.

Success is Possible!

One of the secrets is to create your own niche or style. You will need a good agent or manager who has contact with a reputable hard-working publicist. Most agents take a commission of between 10 and 20 percent. Managers tend to be more involved with your overall package, including organizing concerts and television performances. They will work on your overall image. Managers can take between 15 and 30 percent, depending on their contribution.

Always be Professional!

Your image, on stage and behind the scenes, must be impeccable at all times. A good attitude and demeanor can only be positive. Longevity in the entertainment industry, from my own personal experience, has a lot to do with a consistent positive approach, through good and bad times.
