Controlling Insects With Sound Waves

Can we control insects with sound waves? Can we stop or control Locust Plagues and swarms? How about using high-frequency emitters to prevent them from doing destruction? Has anything like this ever been done before? There are currently some projects being done in Washington State in Apple Tree Orchards near Yakima, which had prompted me to write this article:

Indeed I did read in Mid Western Farmer News of some other projects using sound and there was also a Discovery Channel show on this. There is also a gentleman in Canada who grows crickets for use in agriculture and to feed to reptiles for pet stores, which maybe of interest, although I do not have those exact details. I know it is a family owned business, but he grows millions at a time of different varieties, size and separates them out, some for producing the next batch and the rest for sale. Maybe we could borrow a container full of them to use in our experiment to see if such a thing could work? Here is one thought I had on Locusts for energy and using sound waves to control them: Printable Version:

Hey what they heck, may as well tell the military to pay for the research? They have the money we could tell them something like hey controlling Locusts has military applications, uses and considerations:

Controlling locusts probably does not have any real military applications but if they pay for the technology and research, well it sure would help defeat these pests from ripping into the reality of the already dire straights the human race is in with its population over 6.6 Billion and so many mouths to feed? Consider all this in 2006.
